YOGA & HORSES

Retreat &Teacher Training 

 

Join Lead Instructor Ashley Nunn and Team for an immersive one-week training designed to deepen your understanding of trauma-informed yoga with the opportunity to spend time in the transformative energy of horses as healers.

This unique program is perfect for current yoga teachers, those who want to get certified, and those looking for. unique retreat opportunity, or anyone interested in diving deeper into the Yoga of Awareness  (the ancient practice known as Kundalini Yoga) and exploring the profound connection between humans and horses in the context of healing and personal growth.

 

Program Overview:

Throughout this week-long training, participants will engage in a blend of yoga practices, mindfulness techniques, and equine-assisted learning plus in depth exploration to ayurveda, the yoga sutras, anatomy, teaching tools, trauma-informed considerations and physical assists, and more . This training is trauma-informed, emphasizing safety, empowerment, and compassion. Participants will experience and learn how to create a supportive environment for their students, and how to support them in navigating their own healing journeys.

 

KEY COMPONENTS

Trauma-Informed Yoga Practices: 

   - Explore the foundations of trauma-informed yoga, including the importance of consent, choice, and body awareness.

   - Participate in daily yoga sessions that incorporate movement, breathwork, and meditation, tailored to support emotional regulation and resilience.

 

Equine-Assisted Learning:

   - Experience hands-on interactions with horses, guided by certified equine specialists. Learn how these majestic animals can mirror human emotions and facilitate deep healing.

   - Engage in ground-based activities with horses that promote trust, connection, and self-awareness, enhancing your understanding of non-verbal communication and emotional intelligence.

 

Workshops and Discussions:

   - Participate in workshops focused on the neurobiology of trauma, Ayurveda, the business of Yoga, Anatomy & Physiology, Yoga as a tool for Social Justice,  Horse Medicine

and the role of mindfulness in healing.

   - Engage in group discussions and reflective practices to share insights and experiences, fostering a sense of community, leadership and support among participants.

 

Integration and Application:

   - Develop practical skills to support you in sharing your personal strengths, perspectives and successes with others as an instructor

   - Create a personalized action plan to begin teaching

-Receive compassionate, clear feedback to strengthen your communication skills and ability to manifest your vision.

-Practice teaching and build confidence

 

Location:

Experience the powerful energy, clarity and expansive beauty of the amazing Joshua Tree forests in the Mojave Desert, the only place on Earth where these trees exist.

On this immersion retreat, experience firsthand and explore how yoga can be a profound conduit for transformational healing.

Our retreat property (click to see) is a stunning get-away on 5 acres with over 30 Joshua Trees, 4 beautifully restored vintage campers, two beautifully appointed cabins, outdoor dining space, a cedar hot tub, a cold plunge,

a dry sauna, a yurt, a shaded yoga deck, adult swings and more.

 

Who Should Apply:

This training is ideal for those who wish to become yoga teachers,  as well as for therapists, social workers, and anyone interested in the intersection of yoga, trauma, Ayurveda, social justice and equine therapy. No prior experience is necessary; just an open heart, an ability to participate respectfully and fully in a group setting and a willingness to learn.

Additional Components:

For those interested in teaching certification, there is also an online component.

This includes 

a weekly practice which is "go at your own pace," and access to weekly one-hour

Sangha Zoom sessions plus homework. Applicants who'd like teaching certification have one year to complete the online trainings and homework.

*Though he is recognized for bringing the practice to the US, this training is NOT Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan.
